Ochoa Tinto Gran Reserva Magnum.

Wine Information.

Grape varieties Tempranillo (55%), Merlot (15%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (30%)
Winemaker Javier Ochoa
Winemaking The wine reposed in 225 litre American oak barrels for just over two
years, with rackings every six months to deposit the natural sediments.
It completed its maturation in the bottle, where it stayed for three
years before release. It was not aggressively filtered when bottled, so it
may leave some deposit with the passage of time.
Alc/Vol 14º
Soil Calcareous clay

Serve at: 18-20ºC
Food matching: Grilled meat

It comes from an exclusive grape selection made from the vineyard. After ageing patiently in American and French oak barrels for two years, the wine remains in the bottle until becoming a GRAN RESERVA. This wine hasn’t undergone any treatments or stabilization processes so, with the passing of time, natural component precipitations may occur.
This is an elegant and powerful wine, representative of the 2000 vintage at Bodegas Ochoa (qualified as excellent). Tile-red cherry coloured of high rim. Clean and powerful on the nose. Black fruit, fine wood aromas. Tasty, rich of good structure, well-balanced between its wood and fruity hints.

Today, Bodegas Ochoa has continued the family tradition with the marriage of Javier Ochoa and Marivi Alemán whose daughter Adriana, is now head enologist and responsible for the production and quality control of Ochoa wine. Recently, their youngest daughter Beatriz joined the family business to run the marketing department for the winery.

Javier Ochoa Martínez, current director of Bodegas Ochoa, took charge of the business that his father Adriano had already relaunched and settled. After studying enology, he joined the winery and guided it into exclusively making bottled wine, promoting the modernization of production techniques. In addition, he built a new winery on the outskirts of Olite , which are the current location of Bodegas Ochoa.

In 1980, Javier Ochoa was contracted by the Government of Navarre to promote the wine in the province and he became responsible for enology at EVENA (Estación de Viticultura y Enología de Navarra). He worked on this project until 1992.

In 1992, he came back to the family winery, run by his wife, Mariví Alemán. In that moment, the cellar was boosted by the first varietal wines and an expansion of its activity.
From 1994 on, he began to work on R & D (Research and Development), which is still a staple and represents one of the trademarks of Bodegas Ochoa.

The family tradition continues with Adriana Ochoa, enologist, who is responsible for the development and monitoring of the wine. This includes quality control in the vineyard and winery and also responsibility for the R & D projects. Adriana attended Higher Education in France where she obtained the BTS degree (Brevet Technicien Superieur) in Viticulture and Enology (Bordeaux-Blanquefort) and the DNO (National Diploma in Enology) at the University of Toulouse (ENSAT, INP). Her end of degree project was based on the aging of red wines.

Beatriz Ochoa, who recently joined the family business to run the marketing department, studied International Management in the University of Navarra, with a special interest in Marketing. After some years studying and working abroad, she returned home and works in the winery.

The future of Bodegas Ochoa is bright having Adriana Ochoa, along with her sister Beatriz, working on and promoting a new series of wines “8a”, another step in the the line of innovation,  where we continue to satisfy all palates.
