Bertha Brut Reserva

Bertha's cava Brut 1989 is a fresh, aromatic and lively product. It's ideal to serve with aperitifs and light starters.

We add only 8 grams per litre of liqueur d'expédition to Brut Nature. The liqueur d'expédition is a totally natural liquor, made of wine and sugar, and its only task is to sweeten the product. We do not add any aged or mellow wine, neither any kind of Brandy. We think that the liqueur d'expédition should serve only to sweeten the cava.

Our Brut 1989 is made of Macabeo, Xarel·lo and Parellada. It offers very pleasant aromatic flavours that relate to different types of fruit. These are the primary aromas that come from the grape itself. On the palate, it has a complex, warm mouth feel with a very mild amount of carbon dioxide and a subtle entry.Together with Pinot Noir, these two are the only cavas to which we add the liqueur d'expédition.

Cava Bertha's Brut 1989 requires a minimum of 12 months maturation.

Bertha was born from a teenage dream, from hope and from a desire to be a part of world that has existed in abundance. We who make Bertha enjoy our work and that reflects in each and every bottle that we produce.

Our history goes back only twenty years and that is the reason why Bertha's philosophy is so open and contemporary. We love art, design and image, but we conserve the most traditional methods of elaboration, respecting the indigenous grape varietals and the land where we live.

We invite you to discover our small work of art.

Josep Torres Sibill wine cellars, the place where we make Cava Bertha, are situated in the very centre of Sant Sadurní d'Anoia. We produce seven different types of cava in a total of 180.000 bottles per year.

In 1989 we started working under the trademark of Josep Torres Sibill. The first production had 5.000 bottles, out of which two types of cava - Brut and Brut Nature - came out on the market. In 1998, the registration of Cava Bertha as an official trademark was achieved. The new name managed to arouse curiosity among the cava lovers.

The name of Bertha is inspired in the First World War when a highly powerful German canon called Big Bertha entered service in 1914. It was named after the daughter of its constructor Alfred Krupp and although only four canons were constructed, they were a true revolution at that time. The name of our cava comes from its strength and revolutionary spirit.

Since 1998, the concept has been totally different - new image of the product, new presentations, new concept, new commercial philosophy and above all new products.

In less then a decade, our Cava Bertha has become a part of the desired market. The best shops, the best restaurants and the best distributors, not only in Spain but also in Europe, Asia and America, offer our cava.

Bertha's promise to its consumers is to produce our cava in the same way as our ancestors did, while incorporating modern knowledge and the latest technology during the whole process.

Another commitment is to maintain our limited production in the future and to respect the local wine-producing area as much as the indigenous grape varietals.

To introduce cava Bertha and its products of extraordinary quality throughout the whole world, focusing mainly on the specialized shops and high gastronomy, has been our objective. To achieve this, Bertha also relies on strategic agreements with importing companies and distributors which specialize in high-quality products.
